Learn New Skills For Free With The Open Universities, Open Learn Programme
So you may be thinking about broadening your horizons and learning a new trade or skill, but don't have much in the way of money to finance it?
The Open University have over 900 totally free courses, on their Open Learn study courses website, that you can participate in, and learn, at no cost.
The free courses were introduced as a 2 year experiment in 2006, but have proven been so popular, that the courses have expanded and continue to grow year on year.
There are studies available in four main categories:
Health, Sports & Psychology
Education & Development
History & The Arts
Languages
So chances are you will find something of interest!
The courses vary in length, and start from as little a 1 hours of study, so you could easily learn something new and exciting in just one evening!
The courses have been proven to increase confidence and develop the skills needed to enter Higher Education and succeed with learning. The courses attract over 8.5 million people very year, from all over the world.
You can choose an OpenLearn course from a wide range of subjects. Some are based on Open University course materials. Others are written specifically for OpenLearn.
The courses do not have a start and end date. You can start right away or at a time that suits you.
On successful completion of a free course, you will be able to access and download a free statement of participation. You can print or email the statement of participation to demonstrate your successful completion of a course. It can help show your interest in a subject and a commitment to your career or provide evidence of continuing professional development.
