London Kids Theatre Week: Free Tickets For Kids Is Back!

Kids London Theatre Week is back! Grab free theatre tickets for kids to a wide range of top London shows this summer!

Kids London Theatre Week is back! Grab free theatre tickets for kids to a wide range of top London shows this summer!

During Kids London Theatre Week 2024 (it's actually for the whole of the school summer holidays, so from 23rd July until the 6th of September 2024), a child accompanied by a full-paying adult can attend one of a wide selection of top London theatre productions for free.

There is a wide selection of shows (around 50) to visit for young people to experience the magic of theatre, ranging from award-winning plays, perhaps taking in a spectacular musical, to enjoying the live music, with a range of performances to suit even younger children so that the whole family can get involved, perhaps enjoying live there for the very first time.

The Kids Week promotion is a great way to save on family entertainment. A child aged 17 and under gets a free ticket when accompanied by a full-paying adult to a participating show. You can also get extra children’s tickets for two additional children who can attend for half price. This means you can enjoy a full day of theatre without breaking the bank, although bear in mind that the adult does have to pay full price and these ticket prices can be pretty expensive, but if you factor in the savings on tickets for the kids, it does make the total cost of the family attending that bit easier to afford!

When booking, tickets will appear at their half-price cost (the same deal as one full-price adult and one free child!), so you need to buy the same number of tickets as the total attendees, children and adults.

There are no booking fees or postage fees to pay when booking the theatre tickets.

A limited number of Kids Week tickets are available for live show performances during the Kids Week promotion, and the most popular performances sell out fast due to the high demand for a free child's ticket. The ticket sales opened on Tuesday, 11th June, on the Official London Theatre website, and the demand to book tickets has been high, so make sure you have a 2nd choice available as the really popular shows may well have sold out by the time you read this, you have to be super quick to book! You can book a maximum of eight tickets per show (one free child per paying adult)

How to save money on London Kids Theatre Week Tickets

🔥 Theatre Tokens (theatre gift cards) can be redeemed online when you make your booking, and these are a good way to lower your ticket costs. You can buy Theatre Tokens from the gift card cashback apps JamDoughnut (*6.5% cashback) or EverUp (*7.5% cashback) and earn cashback on the cost of your tokens, which could be a sizeable amount if you're buying a number of tickets, and likely enough to pay for your interval ice cream! (possibly not with London prices for show snacks!)

You may find that extra performances are added later on for some shows, but this can't be guaranteed, so assume they won't be, but do keep checking, just in case!

It's not every performance of every show—some exclude their most popular performances, such as matinees or weekends. Tickets are distributed randomly across all dates, shows, and seat prices, so you can be flexible in your choice of shows to attend.

You'll see which seats are available during the booking process. Use the seating plan to seek out seats that are more accessible to the younger audience/show viewer, and you may need to contact the theatre directly should you have any special access needs. There was an access priority request form on the website so that you could pre-book for those with access requirements; however, after June 9th 2024, these types of seats will be on a first-come, first-served basis. You can book a maximum of eight tickets per show (one free child per paying adult).

All performances with attached Kids Week activities have a star next to them on the calendar on the Kids Week website. Some of these are open to all performance attendees, like a post-show Q&A, backstage tours, post-show talks and a wide range of activities. With these extra activities, there is limited capacity, so booking this performance doesn’t guarantee an activity space. Once you’ve booked your tickets, you'll get an email with details of how to book the free activities, so keep your eyes peeled.

Make sure you check out the Kids Week website for restaurant discounts for local eateries, as these discounts can make eating out great value and affordable and a nice way to end the day.
