You Have Only Days Left To Claim Your £150!
Are you one of the 300,000 households who haven't yet received their £150 council tax rebate? If not, time is running out to grab it!
The Government has now extended its deadline for households to get their £150 council tax rebate until November 30th of this year, but time is running out.
The rebate scheme was set up by then chancellor Rishi Sunak earlier in the year to help families with the cost of living crisis, and households in council tax bands A to D in England, Scotland and Wales are eligible for £150. Households in Northern Ireland don't pay council tax, so they aren't included in this cost of living assistance package.
Nearly 2 million households have received their payout, but people who don’t pay their council tax by direct debit - will need to contact their council asap to tell them how they’d like the refund to be paid.
Anyone who doesn’t know their local council can find out by typing their postcode into the GOV.UK website.
The council tax rebate doesn't need to be paid back.
If you’re in a council tax property with a band E, F, G and H (or I as well, in Wales), you might be able to get support through a separate discretionary fund funded by your local council. Not all councils are offering additional assistance, mainly due to a lack of funding, but it's well worth speaking to the council in case it is something they are offering.
