Boots are trialling a recycling scheme where you can bring your empty beauty, health, wellness and dental products, from any brand, that can’t be recycled at home into the store, place them in the in-store recycle bins, and Boots will give you 500 Boots Advantage Card points – worth £5.
You can bring 5 items in per trip, with a maximum earning of 500 points per day. Once you’ve dropped your empties into the bins in store, they’ll be taken to ReWorked and broken down into components.
Anything that can be recycled or composted will be given a second life. ReWorked will incorporate anything that can’t be recycled into Stormboard, a composite wood-style material which has lots of different uses. Either way, nothing goes to landfill or incineration.
The trial isn't available in all stores, just 50 at present, and you can find your closest store here
You won’t be able to recycle aerosol cans, perfume bottles, nail polish bottles, hair dyes, brow and eyelash tints, safety razors and razor blades, disposable razors and razor heads, used PPE (disposable masks, gloves and visors), food packaging including crisps, medicine, vitamins and supplements blister packs and foils; any electrical items such as hairdryers and straighteners and any medical devices, electrical or not, but items such as mascara tubes, pills bottles, finished lipsticks and toothpaste tubes.
To take part in the scheme, register here, download the app, and then you are good to go..
